Please introduce yourself and where you work.

I’m Brandon Borden, the Content Marketing Coordinator at Abbey Mecca & Company, a Digital Marketing Agency in Buffalo, NY.

How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?

I believe SEO has evolved significantly in the last decade. More specifically, search engines no long just crawl sites for meta tags and keywords, but they also rely on social media and public relation indicators. A strong SEO program encompasses much more than the backend of a website.

How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?

I was first introduced to SEO while writing articles for a sports journalism website. It was interesting to learn how keywords, links, meta tags and more can potentially influence your ranking. Ultimately, good content will rise to the top.

What are the services you provide to your clients?

Our agency’s content marketing model includes organic SEO management, Search Engine Marketing (PPC, AdWords), email marketing, social media and public relations management.

What strategy according to you will prevail in 2017 for SEO?

Social indicators will play an important role this year. If your content is relevant, important and worth sharing, search engines will pick up on that. That also applies to your social media presence.

What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?

I would recommend interning with more than one company if it’s feasible. It’s important to not get “stuck” in one way of thinking because this industry evolves faster than most industries. I also recommend reaching out to an experienced professional who can provide valuable feedback about best practices.
