pushing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the most frustrating things that these thought leaders do, is outline strategies that either required a massive budget or a massive team in order to execute on. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But not everyone has the time or budget to set up these huge new campaigns.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Heck, some even have trouble convincing their boss to even try anything new.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is why I tried to keep these tips and trends extra simple.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That means if you wanted to, you could implement them right after reading this!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also these are ideas that you could set up for the long term, because they are not just going to fizzle out at the end of the year.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The strategies can be used to close out 2017 and accelerate your digital marketing efforts far beyond that.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So let\u2019s jump into it!<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>1.Content Is Still King<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Since the beginning of online marketing three special words have continued to resonate.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rankwatch.com\/infographics\/future-of-content-marketing.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-wpel-link=\"ignore\">Thought leaders, entrepreneurs and even professionals<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> who are not directly involved with any form of marketing have been repeating this phrase.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Content is king.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Content is king.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Content is king.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">(Legend says that if you say it three times in a mirror, Neil Patel will show up and tell you how to create better content.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No matter the situation or business that idea has become a fixture of many marketing strategies ever since. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And it does not seem like that sentiment will be changing in 2017 or really anytime soon.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Which bodes well for me, since content is one of the strategies I actually understand relatively well.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you take a look at the graph below, content marketing leads the pack of almost doubled a perennial favorite, mobile marketing and dominated paid search. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, I think people selected Big Data as their second best option since it is still considered a new buzzword and an area with a lot of potential. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Don\u2019t believe me? The trends don\u2019t lie.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/3-3.png?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-6387\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/3-3.png?resize=640%2C334&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"334\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/3-3.png?resize=1024%2C534&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/3-3.png?resize=300%2C156&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/3-3.png?resize=768%2C401&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/3-3.png?w=1183&amp;ssl=1 1183w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I mean in the past year there were over 22k articles with \u201cContent Marketing\u201d in their title and literally 52 articles with \u201cBig Data Marketing.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It seems like there would be a lot more written about that topic If it is going to take over 2017 and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>2.But It Needs To Be More Engaging<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just because content is king does not mean you can build your brand with just any old content.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The days of producing so much content to the point of being overwhelmed, are over.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Well, unless you are Buzzfeed.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now that there is so much content to choose from, people want access to very specific content that they actually engaging. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each content producer is competing with one another for the short attention span of our readers. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You also have to remember that we are not just competing with other written content, we are also competing with Netflix, YouTube, the news and much more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So why should anyone read your content for that matter?<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If it is not compelling or engaging your audience will bounce in seconds.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But if you can hook them with each piece of content you can build a huge following. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then you no longer have an audience of random readers, you have a community that will help spread your content to the world. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And that community is incredibly valuable to any brand. If you can build up a relatively engaged following, they will ensure that your news continues to spread to the right audience, so that you can reap the benefits.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For instance, here is a data driven article that still gets immense traffic almost a year later. Why? Because it targets a very specific audience who feels passionately about the subject. So what do they do? Compelling Visuals Boost Facebook &amp; Twitter Shares<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You can also notice that \u201cCreating Visual Content\u201d was also considered a high priority among content marketers. In fact, according to a recent survey on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/venngage.com\/blog\/visual-content-marketing-statistics\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\" data-wpel-link=\"ignore\">visual marketing statistics<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, 40.5% of marketers stated that 91% to 100% of the content they published in 2015 was visual. And in 2016, that number rose to 53%! Not surprisingly, when asked how integral visual content would be to their strategies in 2017, 60.8% said it was absolutely necessary.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So remember, content marketing as a trend does not solely apply to written content, but it also <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/the-power-of-visual-content-in-your-content-marketing-strategy\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">emcompasses visual content<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> such as infographics, data visualizations, visual reports and more.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As a content marketer, I\u2019ve found that using visuals is incredible effective in terms of increasing engagement, but also providing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/3-link-building-best-practices-how-to-grow-your-organic-the-white-hat-way\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">opportunities for link building<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That is because no matter the situation, visuals make any piece of content better.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And that includes anything you send out on Facebook or Twitter. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just by including an image or visual<\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/buzzsumo.com\/blog\/how-to-massively-boost-your-blog-traffic-with-these-5-awesome-image-stats\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> your shares increase by 2.3x.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/6.png?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6390\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/6.png?resize=640%2C431&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"431\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/6.png?w=816&amp;ssl=1 816w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/6.png?resize=300%2C202&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/6.png?resize=768%2C518&amp;ssl=1 768w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Each and every share your company page sends out should include a visual.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Wait, I take that back- each should have an engaging, beautiful and relevant visual. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No stock images, low quality or unrelated images. Like so:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/7-1.png?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-full wp-image-6391\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/7-1.png?resize=531%2C397&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"531\" height=\"397\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/7-1.png?w=531&amp;ssl=1 531w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/7-1.png?resize=300%2C224&amp;ssl=1 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 531px) 100vw, 531px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">I mean how does that image even relate to the headline? <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Also that won\u2019t catch anyone\u2019s eye, your audience will scroll past it without a second thought. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your audience is a lot more savvy than you think, and they likely won\u2019t engage with a bad stock photo.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Yet so many companies still use this tactic because it\u2019s easy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As in 35% of marketers stated that they used stock photos the most for their marketing visuals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But we found that a related and compelling visual on <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/venngage.com\/blog\/facebook-images\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Facebook will lead to more engagement.<\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here\u2019s an example of one that resulted in a very high CTR and low CPC:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/8.png?ssl=1\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-large wp-image-6392\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/8.png?resize=640%2C335&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"335\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/8.png?resize=1024%2C536&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/8.png?resize=300%2C157&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/8.png?resize=768%2C402&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/www.rankwatch.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/09\/8.png?w=1200&amp;ssl=1 1200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" data-recalc-dims=\"1\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You know exactly what you&#8217;re clicking on or sharing with this particular visual, and it\u2019s eye-catching!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So take a minute or two and create a visually stunning image to accompany your content in order to take advantage of that increased potential in traffic and clicks.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>4.
