Write lead-generatin\u2019 tweets<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6,000 tweets are sent on Twitter every second. <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.internetlivestats.com\/twitter-statistics\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This corresponds to 350,000 tweets sent per minute! <\/span><\/a><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Given the sheer volume of noise on Twitter, you\u2019ll want do everything you can to set up your tweets for success. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">After analyzing <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/coschedule.com\/blog\/social-media-content-creation\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6,399,322 social media posts<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, CoSchedule discovered that the best performing Tweets on Twitter include an image, somewhere around 100 characters (give or take), and no more than 2 hashtags. \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Make sure your tweets are tailored to the platform. Because Twitter views itself as a news platform as much as a social network, you\u2019ll want to craft your tweets to be \u201cnewsy\u201d as well. In less than 140 characters, you\u2019ll need to convey why your content is worthy of people\u2019s attention. This means that older tweets simply get buried in the stream. You\u2019ll want to tweet important announcements multiple times in a given day and space out the tweets to maximize impressions. \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Once you\u2019ve optimized your Twitter profile, it\u2019s time to use keywords to discover your target buyer persona and reach out to them proactively<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>7. Using Keywords to Find Your Target Buyer Persona on Twitter<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">By going to someone\u2019s Twitter profile, you\u2019ll learn a lot about what they do, what their interests are, whom they are following and where they are located. If someone just mentioned a key topic that\u2019s relevant to your business, or shared an article from an influencer in your space, or retweeted a tweet from one of your competitors, he or she can be a good lead for your business. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, if you are looking for marketing professionals who are engaging with the digital media ecosystem, you might search for people who are: <\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Talking about topics such as \u201cconsumer research\u201d, \u201cmedia consumption\u201d, and \u201cuser engagement\u201d <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following certain marketing publications such as <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.marketingland.com\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">@MarketingLand<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re looking to connect with IT audiences who might be looking for software to streamline their IT operations, you might target people who took actions such as:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mentioning a technology topic such as \u201cActive Directory\u201d, \u201cMobiledev\u201d and \u201cmanaged services\u201d <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following or engaging with IT influencers such as @CIOMagazine, @CIOOnline, and @InformationWeek <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Following or engaging with a cloud infrastructure player such as @Azure or @AWS <\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To learn more about how to select the right keywords to reach your target audience, take a look at my post <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.socedo.com\/use-twitter-keywords-and-hashtags-to-find-niche-audiences-for-your-business\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to Use Twitter Keywords and Hashtags to Find Leads<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. <\/span><\/p>\n<h2>8. Use direct messages to start one-on-one conversations with your prospects<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use Twitter\u2019s Direct Message feature to make initial contact with your target audience and bring them into your sales funnel. Direct messages are similar to email in that they can be sent privately. They\u2019re not limited to 140 characters, so you can provide more content. And because only its sender and recipient can view a DM, the channel provides authentic one-on-one interactions. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When you use a DM in the right way in the earlier stages within a customer journey, you can pierce through the noise of inbox spam to reach customers as individuals on their terms. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Depending on your goals, there are a couple of directions you can take with your DM.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>9. Send an offer to drive traffic to a landing page.<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Putting a link in your DM to a landing page or downloadable resource is a great way to move new prospects into the buyer\u2019s cycle. Make sure to tailor content to what the person tweets about. Once you check out a person\u2019s previous posts, followers and retweets, you\u2019ll find ideas on how to tailor your content. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Going back to the IT audience example mentioned earlier, you might send an IT Director following @CIOMagazine a DM that recommends a whitepaper showing benchmarking data about IT Operations to pique their interest in what their peers in IT are doing. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To keep your DM from sounding like an ad, use the customer\u2019s name in your message and mention why you\u2019re reaching out. Make sure the question is easy to answer, focuses on the person\u2019s needs and follows the next logical step towards a sale. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are some types of questions you can ask: \u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Ask permission: \u201cI\u2019d love to learn more about your business, do you have time?\u201d<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Start broad, then get specific: \u201cWhat kinds of strategies do you use to drive new leads?\u201d <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Build on previous responses: \u201cYou mentioned you are using social media to drive new leads.
