To create an SEO friendly URL, there are a few factors that need to be taken under consideration. 

1) It is imminent to use hyphens in the URL to separate words when necessary in order to improve the URLs readability. A URL with underscores, spaces and other special characters will be hard to read and should not be implemented. Also, do not over use hyphens as that also makes it harder to read and considered spammy.

2) The URL should not be longer than 2048 characters, otherwise IE won’t be able to load the page.

3) Avoid using parameters and if necessary then not more than two should be used.
