Please introduce yourself and where you work.

Cabe Higginbotham, Boostability on the Marketing team. I’ve been in the industry for 10 years from agencies to boutiques to in house.
I currently work at Boostability, where we help small to medium-sized businesses grow their presence online with social, website, and SEO products. We also work with a large variety of partners to white label and scale their SEO offering to thousands of clients all across the globe. We’re the biggest SEO company for small businesses in the world.

How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?

In a couple big ways.
First, it used to be all about gaming the system to produce the most amount of links. It didn’t matter where as long as you got the links. Now that has changed completely; you need to offer and show search engines and visitors that your content actually means something and can offer them something. We need to be engaging our audience on a much more personal level and offering them a high level of service.
Second, high-quality SEO services are becoming more and more accessible to the lay person. For a long time, professional help was only available to businesses that could either hire their own in-house SEO specialist or bring on an expensive agency. Most people couldn’t afford either option. In the last little while though, there’s been an explosion of companies that can provide affordable SEO. My current company, Boostability, has really led that movement.

How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?

My brother actually. I was working at a local hardware store and he asked me to come on and learn it at a local agency. I dove right into the analytical part of SEO and fell in love. I have learned many things over the years and have had my hand in many different teams and projects. These ranged from fulfillment to managing website developers for onsite changes, working in house for Boostability, and working on their SEO and other marketing initiatives.

What are the services you provide to your clients?

We offer three core products: BoostSEO, BoostSocial, and BoostSites.
With BoostSEO we help clients rank for KWs and terms and increase their overall presence online. We’re able to get 85% of clients on the first page within 6 months and offer them a huge boost in online presence I’m not aware of another company that has that high a success rate.
With BoostSocial, we curate and help clients with their social media management. We can help with ads and even timely posts that will engage their audience on FB. We also offer complete website builds for our clients with BoostSites, this goes hand in hand with our SEO product. Our clients are able to get a very professional site that is built with SEO, ranking and providing great content in mind. These three products all work individually and hand in hand to provide a great experience for clients where they rank, get more customers and interact online like never before.

What strategy according to you will prevail in 2017 for SEO?

I think a more holistic approach to online marketing is the best way to handle your strategy going into the future. What I mean by this is using any and every avenue in your campaigns; from paid ads to social to great content and so much more. You need to be well versed and putting your brand or company out there on so many different platforms. Gone are the days where you could put a couple keywords on your site and rank. You have to provide the best value with your content so that people actually want it. Use all the platforms and mediums available to you to have a solid, engaging and successful SEO marketing campaign.

What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?

Only because I like it so much but data analysis is a must for a digital marketing career. You need to know how to read and understand the data you are seeing, be able to tell the story of it, then make informed decisions based on the data.
Another hugely important thing I see for people in a similar situation as me is to know and understand CRM and marketing management platforms. You need to know how these work with each other to provide you great insight and access to your customer base. Learn these systems in and out, get certified, then provide your company or clients a fantastic marketing solution combined with SEO, social and more.
