Please introduce yourself and where you work.

I’m the president and one of two founders at Search Solutions LLC. We are an outsourced digital marketing company that fills a unique space for mid-sized and emerging businesses. By focusing on brand building, direct response lead/sales generation and CRM integrations, we help provide full lifecycle visibility into prospects, clients and customers.

How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?

SEO has changed dramatically in the past 2 years, let alone 10. The days of “rank and bank” are long gone, and SEO is mostly a content and long-tail game now. Local SEO is still somewhat easy to manipulate and improve, but it can’t be scaled really. The biggest change we’ve seen is the decline in value of any manual link-building to sites that aren’t related to a websites industry, vertical or location.

How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?

I started doing Yahoo! ads campaigns about 15 years ago, and have been in digital marketing ever since. SEO became important to me in the late 90’s, and I started writing content for blogs in the early 2000’s. Seeing the return from SEO rivaled that of PPC kept me interested in the art of SEO ever since.

What are the services you provide to your clients?

We offer a full suite of digital marketing services. All things SEM (PPC + SEO), website design/dev, crm integrations, creative resources (traditional and digital), email marketing and analytics reporting. Our goal is to be a one-stop shop for brands to build out while still generating leads and sales that show ROI.

What strategy according to you will prevail in 2018 for SEO?

Outreach and content will continue to be key in 2018. Also, integrating SEO across all departments (IT, sales, marketing, etc) is critical to make sure all stakeholders understand the value. On-page technicals will continue to maintain relevance in the short term as well. What will continue to diminish is spammy directories and spun content of all types.

What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?

If you are looking at digital right now, get out on the front edge of voice search, experiential marketing (AR/VR) and video display of all types. These will continue to grow in importance as users expect more from their marketing across all channels. I would also make sure that you can write. Written content will always matter. Stay sharp there.
