Please introduce yourself and where you work.

Ray Cole, Founder of Mobile Copywriter.

How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?

SEO has drastically changed during the past decade. Years ago, anyone could use a variety of spammy methods to artificially influence search engine rankings. However, a methodical approach toward search-engine friendly methods are now recognized as the keys to long-term success.

How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?

I ran a mortgage company for more than a dozen years until the housing market crashed. While venturing into commercial mortgage loans, I started writing about residential mortgage topics and helpful tips for small business owners.
It was during that time that I started to learn about SEO and the benefits of having a skill set to improve website rankings. Also, I began to reflect on the web design, content writing and editing that I had previously used for my former businesses. With a better understanding of SEO, I would have created stronger levels of engagement with local prospects and closed far more loans.
In 2013, I started Mobile Copywriter to help other business owners who were too busy to learn specific SEO strategies that are used to get a website found online.

What are the services you provide to your clients?

We provide SEO, copywriting and social media services. Using a combination
of custom website content, blog posts, press releases and social media
networking, our clients are gaining more brand awareness, website traffic
and online sales.

What strategy according to you will prevail in 2018 for SEO?

SEO is here to stay. Video is most likely to prevail in 2018. However, SEO works best where web-based users are spending a considerable amount of time.
Since most people cannot seem to function without their smartphones, we are targeting mobile marketing opportunities in 2018 and beyond.

What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?

I would mention that digital marketing opportunities should be abundant and very rewarding for the foreseeable future. Also, I would caution them to continuously learn about advancements in SEO, as technology, data and the delivery of content evolves.
