Please introduce yourself and where you work.
My name is Ryon Gross and I am the founder and CEO of Local Leap Marketing located in Allen, TX. Local Leap Marketing offers website design and local SEO services for over 500 clients across the globe. My background in project management and business development made my transition to business owner pretty easy. I enjoy helping people grow their business and it’s very rewarding to work with people so passionate about what they do. It’s a passion we share.
How do you think SEO has changed over the last 10 years?
SEO is getting more competitive by the day. A lot of companies are realizing they need more than just a website and a few backlinks to generate leads. The reporting metrics are also improving to give customers better insight into how SEO is helping their business. Creating SEO results in today’s market requires more of a scientific approach with factual data to measure the effectiveness of a strategy.
How did you get introduced to digital marketing, more specifically SEO?
A company that I was working for needed help with their website and marketing materials. I offered a few suggestions and then took over the marketing responsibilities shortly thereafter. Once we had a great website in place, the next logical step was to use it to generate more leads. Seeing the results was very rewarding; it helped define my passion for marketing and allowed me to get where I am today.
When I first started my web design business, the majority of my leads came from friends and family. As I started to focus on SEO and look for new opportunities online, I noticed that more leads were coming from the website. I gradually shifted more of my time into optimizing the website and creating pages designed to convert leads. I slowly started rolling out this same strategy to my clients and the rest is history.
What are the services you provide to your clients?.
We primarily focus on web design and SEO. This allows us to maintain the level of customer service that our clients depend on and stay on top of the ever-changing world of SEO. We also offer social media marketing, copywriting, branding, and email hosting.
What strategy according to you will prevail in 2019 for SEO?
Google is rewarding the companies that focus more on their branding and less on trying to cheat the system. Our strategy is made up of SEO fundamentals, consistent branding across the web and content that makes people want to engage with the company. Video marketing is becoming more prevalent as well. It’s something we are integrating more in our social media marketing and I think a lot of companies will have to react to the video trend as well.
What would your advice be to people who are looking to take up digital marketing as a career choice?
There is a lot of opportunity in this field, but you have to be prepared to learn and grow every day. Finding a knowledgeable mentor sounds great, but the majority of people learn through trial and error. Take the time to build your portfolio and customer base. You don’t always have to have the right answers. You just have to prove that you are willing to find the right answer and do whatever it takes to help your customer.
