These changes could be
- Addition of a new web page,

Here’s the 3-step indexation process of Google:
- Discovery – Google bots look for new and updated web pages.
- Crawling – They scan the web pages and understand their content.
- Indexing – They send information and update the database.
By following this process, Google has built a massive database of over 4.45 billion web pages.
It means Google bots have to crawl these many web pages from time to time. And they don’t do it in one go.
Google categorizes web pages and assigns them a crawling priority.
It analyzes various factors to determine the web pages that will be updated faster, more frequently, and preferably over others.
This helps Google in providing the most relevant and up-to-date information to its users.
However, if Google assigns lower priority to your site, the search engine will take time to index it.

How Do I Make Sure My Website Indexes Faster On Google?
1. Submit your Web Page to Google Search Console
Google Search Console helps you push your web page ahead of the indexation queue. You can manually submit your URL to Google Search Console and request indexation.
Google will send its bots to crawl the web page’s content. This will remove uncertainty, and you won’t have to wait for Google bots to discover your page.
Here’s how you can do it.
Step 1: Sign in to your Google Search Console account and select your website.
Step 2: Go to URL inspection.
Step 3: Copy-paste the URL of your web page in the field provided on top for it.
Step 4: Click the Test Live URL button on the upper left side. It will check if the URL is indexable or not.
If your webpage is not indexed, it will display “URL is not on Google”.
If your web page is indexed, it will show “URL is on Google”, with a green tick on its left.
Step 5: Click on the Request Indexing button. Google will add the submitted URL to its crawl queue.
Soon, your web page will get indexed.
So, whenever you update the content of a page or add a new page to your site, you can submit its URL in GSC for faster indexing.
2. Add A Sitemap To Your Site
A sitemap is an XML file containing a list of your website’s URLs and when they were last updated.
It helps Google in crawling your website easily as all links are organized in one place. So, your website gets indexed faster.
When you are building a sitemap for your site, keep in mind that your sitemap does not:
- Have more than 50,000 URLs
- Exceeds 50 MB in size
If you have more than 50,000 URLs, you will have to create a new sitemap once the limit is reached.
Adding several sitemaps to your site is possible and legit.
If you have many categories or use many content formats, I would tell you to create separate sitemaps for each.
For example, you can create a sitemap for each category on your site. And a separate sitemap for all the images uploaded on your site.
But that’s all about creating sitemaps. The important thing is submitting the sitemap to Google so that your URLs get indexed faster.
Here are the steps you should follow:
Step 1: Sign in to your Google Search Console account.
Step 2: Select your website (property).
Step 3: Click on Sitemaps under the Index section.
Step 4: Enter your sitemap URL(s).Step 5: Click on Submit.
The submitted sitemap will get added to the crawl queue of Google. If everything goes well, all your URLs will be indexed in one go.
And in case your sitemap has issues, Google will show it under ‘Security Issues’ in Google Search Console. You can revisit your sitemap, fix the problems, and submit it again.
3. Canonicalize Your Web Pages
It is possible to have web pages with similar content or URLs pointing to the same web page due to redirection.
In such cases, you should specify canonical URLs – the preferred version of the web page.
Otherwise, Google bots will have a tough time searching for the preferred version of the page. This will slow down the indexing.
Plus, they would devalue your site on account of duplicate content. This would affect your site’s indexing altogether.
When you specify the canonical pages, crawlers index them and ignore duplicate pages. It saves crawl time and gets your website indexed faster.
Now, how can you specify the canonical URL?
It’s simple. You have to use the ‘rel=canonical’ tag in the header of the primary web page.
It will tell Google which web page is the preferred version or the main version and the bot will index that only.
4. Use Google Indexing API for Faster Indexing of Web Pages
Google Indexing API allows you to notify Google whenever you add or remove web pages on your site.
As soon as Google receives the notification, it adds your site to its crawl queue.
- If you have added a new page, it indexes the URL.
- If you have deleted an existing page, it removes that page from its records.
The API also helps you send batch indexing requests to many indexed pages (up to 100) at once.

So, you should check for crawler traps on your site and remove them.
The common crawler traps include:
- Pages on E-commerce Websites: E-commerce websites have tons of pages. And most of them have various options for the listed products.
For example, the product page displays the description, price, rating, and other details. In case these pages are not managed well, they can generate several crawler traps.
- Multiple Redirect Chains: Sometimes, a series of redirections is implemented on a website. One page leads to another, which redirects to another, and so on. The chain continues, and there’s a long wait before the final web page opens.
When search bots come across such instances, they get trapped. To get out of it, they stop crawling after three or four hops. So, your web page doesn’t get indexed.
- Redirect Loops: Often, redirected web pages lead you back to the original URL. You arrive at the page from where you started. This is called a redirect loop.
Redirect loops on your website waste your site’s crawl budget. As a result, your web page does not get indexed.
- Incorrect Links: Google doesn’t appreciate misleading information. So, if your site contains spam or faulty links, it negatively impacts your website’s indexing.
For example, your web page returns a 200 HTTP (OK) code instead of a 404 (Page not found) error for a faulty link. This confuses the crawler, and it leaves without indexing your web page.
Removing these crawler traps will help your website get indexed faster.
10. Optimize Robots.txt File
Robots.txt file informs Googlebot which pages on your site should be indexed and which ones should be ignored. It is a simple text file placed in your site’s root directory.
Using robots.txt files, you can prioritize more important pages on your site. It will prevent your site from getting overloaded with requests.
The crawler looks for the robots.txt file when it visits a site. That’s because it can easily find which URLs it should crawl and index your site faster. It will skip all the pages that are not to be crawled as per the robots.txt file.

11. Submit Your Site to Google My Business

12. Remove Rogue Noindex Tags
Search bots are not going to index your web pages if you tell them not to.
Web admins use noindex tags on their site to indicate private pages. These pages need not show up in public and hence, don’t need indexing.
But, sometimes, noindex tags can cause more harm than good. If your site’s public pages have noindex tags, they won’t be indexed by the search spiders.
So, inappropriate use of noindex tags, deliberately or by mistake, impacts indexing speed.
You need to remove the rogue noindex tags from your site to enhance and get your site indexed faster in Google.
There are two ways to do it:
Method 1: Meta Tag
Check for public pages with either of the two meta tags:
- <meta name=“robots” content=“noindex”>
- <meta name=“googlebot” content=“noindex”>
If you find them on pages where they shouldn’t be present, remove them immediately from the code. It will boost your site’s indexing.
Method 2: X?Robots-Tag
Crawlers respect the X?Robots-Tag HTTP response header and don’t index pages that have it.
Go to Google Search Console and find the pages that are blocked because of the X-Robots-Tag.
Enter your URL, then look for the message – “Indexing allowed? No: ‘noindex’ detected in ‘X?Robots-Tag’ http header”.
Ask your developer to remove this header from the pages you want to get indexed. It will make your site’s indexing faster.
Indexing Is Not Equal To Ranking
Getting your site or web pages indexed in Google does not mean they get ranked or drive traffic. Indexing and ranking are two different things.
