With AI-based search results taking over our SERP pages, all of us are looking for any slight edge that can help us rank better. You need better SEO and insights to achieve top rankings.
In such a scenario, if you want on-page SEO insights that actually guide your optimization efforts, RankWatch’s SEO IQ feature is a lifesaver. But what many users don’t realize is that the SEO IQ option in RankWatch isn’t turned on by default.
You have to activate it manually for each keyword. If you’ve ever logged in and seen the message “SEO IQ isn’t enabled for this project. Turn it on to access on-page insights and recommendations.” This guide is for you.
Below is the complete, detailed, step-by-step process to enable SEO IQ and start using its recommendations to improve your rankings.
Step 1: Go to the Rankings Section to Begin Activation
Once you’re inside your RankWatch project, go straight to the Rankings section in the left-hand menu. This is where you activate SEO IQ for each keyword.
We have now arrived at the most crucial part. We need to activate SEO IQ to get our detailed insights. To activate SEO IQ, you must do it inside the Rankings section.
On the left-hand navigation menu, just beside the overview option, you will find several options, including rankings, pages, and a ranking overview:
- Click on Rankings.
- You will now see a large table displaying all your keywords.
You’ll see a long horizontal table with columns such as
- Rank
- Ranking URL
- Search Volume (G)
- Share of Voice (G)
- Snippets
- SEO IQ
- Anchor Links
- SERP
- Rank Change
- Ranking Snippets
- SERP Features
- Total Snippets
- Pixel Position
- Position
Since the table is wide, you must scroll right to access the column required to activate SEO IQ.
Step 2: Add URLs to the “SEO IQ” Column for Analysis
Next, move your cursor slightly right until you reach the SEO IQ column.
For each keyword:
- Click the “Add URL to Analyze” button.
- A field or popup will appear.
- Enter the exact URL you want RankWatch to evaluate for that keyword.
- Click Add.
Once submitted:
- A loading bar appears
- RankWatch begins scanning your page
- After the scan completes, an SEO IQ score will be displayed in that same cell.
Repeat this for each keyword in the rankings table.
Once all URLs are added, you will have complete SEO IQ coverage across your project.
Step 3: Activate SEO IQ for All Keywords You Want Analysed
SEO IQ works keyword by keyword. This means that adding one URL doesn’t activate it for the entire project. So, continue the same process:
- Scroll through the keyword list.
- For each keyword:
- Ensure the SEO IQ option is enabled
- Click Add URL to Analyze
- Enter the corresponding page URL
- Wait for the score to load
- Ensure the SEO IQ option is enabled
The more keywords you activate, the more complete your SEO IQ insights will be.
Once all keywords are processed, your SEO IQ data is fully set up.
Step 4: Return to Your Dashboard to See Your New On-Page Insights
Go back to the Project Dashboard ? Overview.
The message saying “SEO IQ isn’t enabled” will now be gone.
Instead, you will see:
New On-Page Optimization Opportunities, such as
- Issues detected on analysed pages
- Specific improvements for each keyword
- Keyword placement suggestions
- Word count recommendations
- Missing elements (meta tags, headings, alt text, etc.)
- Readability and content depth suggestions
These recommendations come directly from SEO IQ’s analysis and are based on real ranking data and on-page factors. Follow these suggestions one by one. The more you implement these suggestions, the better your SEO IQ scores will be, and the more likely your rankings will improve.
Final Thoughts
SEO IQ only works when it’s activated keyword by keyword, and once it’s on, it becomes your clearest roadmap to stronger on-page SEO. By analyzing each URL and following the recommendations, you turn data into real ranking improvements. Set it up once, apply the insights consistently, and you’ll see measurable results across your entire project.
